Alcester Court Leet Pancake Race
Under the guidance of Miss Wincup, top Year 8 chefs, Sam Speake, Josh Atkinson and Chloe Gough, tested their cookery skills to the limit on Shrove Tuesday, by perfecting their recipe for a pancake which could withstand a dash down the High Street. Armed with frying pans, all three then walked to Alcester to take part in the Alcester Court Leet Pancake Race. Chloe was the clear winner of the Intermediate race and all three students received prizes. It was great fun to take part in the town tradition, which has been celebrated for hundreds of years. The first Pancake Race is believed to date back to 1445 in the town of Olney, Northamptonshire.

Mayor Visits Alcester Academy
Alcester Academy recently played host to the Mayor of Alcester, Councillor Lennox Cumberbatch and other leading members of the community. They attended a reception to celebrate the Investors in Careers award which was given to the school and to mark the new status of the school as an Academy.
The Investors in Careers Award has only been given to a very small number of schools in Warwickshire and is a nationally recognised quality standard for careers education, information, advice and guidance.
Janet Crossley thanked there presentatives from local businesses and organisations who gave the Academy invaluable support to gain this award by offering work experience placements and visits to the school to talk about career options.Without their commitment, this award would not have been possible.
