School Business Manager

Alcester Academy is a small, oversubscribed school in South Warwickshire meeting the needs of 640 pupils in Y7-11.

The school is a stand-alone academy providing education for children in the local priority area. Alcester Academy has enjoyed securing extremely positive pupil outcomes over the last four years. This has placed the school in the top five percent of schools nationally and in a most favourable position in comparison to selective schools.

This is a very exciting time for the academy. Under new leadership, the school is looking to secure future development opportunities and we are seeking an experienced, dynamic, professional Business Manager to help facilitate these opportunities.

The successful candidate must have strong financial and business management skills and equally impressive leadership ability as Business Manager, to lead a group of support staff and manage the financial, administration and IT functions supporting the academic and non-academic activities. The role will include duties as day-to-day Financial Controller, Fire Officer, Health and Safety Appointed Person and Data Protection Officer.

The successful candidate must be a Graduate or have equivalent education, with a professional qualification ideally financial and should have experience working in general, financial, property and IT/systems management and have undertaken advanced studies and/or have relevant professional qualifications in those areas. Excellent communication, administration and interpersonal skills together with flexibility and a commitment to working proactively and creatively as part of a team are essential qualities for the role.

The successful candidate will be measured against these standards.

This is a critical school appointment working alongside a passionate and committed senior leadership team. The salary package will be commensurate with the experience of the appointed candidate.

Teacher of Science

Salary: TMS

The science department is proud of the progress that students make. As a team, we have an established record of excellent results; last years’ results far exceeded National Averages: P8 +0.77 (whole school) P8 +0.57 (science) helping to place the school in the top 5% in the country for progress.     

Applicants will be considered from all points of experience, including newly qualified teachers. In Key Stage 3, teachers would have sole responsibility for a class and are expected to deliver all content. At Key Stage 4, teachers are given more opportunity to teach within their specialist area. As a small department, flexibility and teamwork is particularly important. An ability to teach physics at Key Stage 4 would be desirable, however not essential.

Lunchtime Supervisor

We are currently seeking reliable staff to join our team of lunchtime supervisors, working 7.5 hours a week, term time only. Times may vary according to academy activities throughout the academic year.

Currently hours are temporarily increased to cover Covid–19 academy need and are expended to approx. 3 hours daily covering mid-morning break and lunchtimes. This increase will be managed on a monthly basis.

One post will have specific duties supervising and ensuring the safety and well-being of a small group of pupils during the lunchtime period and will works under the general direction of the SENCo initially.

Post Level Band A £9.25 per hour


  • Be in charge of pupils in school grounds or classrooms according to the weather
  • Attend to any minor accidents or to any pupil who becomes ill
  • Report to academy staff on duty if an accident occurs or if a pupil falls ill
  • Report to the academy staff on duty any acts by pupils which breach school rules
  • Assist in the smooth running of the cafeteria service – e.g
Supervise pupils in the queue
Ensure tables and chairs are set up and cleared after use and used plates, trays, cutlery etc. are returned to designated area
Supervise pupils eating food brought from home and ensure packed lunch equipment is cleared away after use
Assist with clearance of litter around the site
  • Supervise and ensure the safety and well-being of pupils during the lunchtime period. Work under the general direction of the Business Manager or other designated person in charge
  • Be responsible for the management of pupils' behaviour and for ensuring continuity of behaviour sanctions from the morning and into the afternoon sessions
  • Deal with disciplinary matters of pupils, in accordance with schools rules and policies
  • Be responsible for the management of pupils' safety during the lunchtime session
  • Be expected to administer First Aid and epipens as necessary (training will be provided)
  • Ensure equipment is checked and is safe for use

This post is temporary 12 months in the first instance due to COVID – 19
