IMPORTANT UPDATE 1st SEPTEMBER 2025 - MEAL PRICING

Due to sustained cost pressures over the past 12 months, Miquill unfortunately have no choice by to implement a price increase of 5% across all product lines from 1st September, 2025.  This decision has been made in response to the following key factors:

  • 6.7% increase in the National Minimum Wage
  • 1.2% rise in National Insurance contributions, compounded by a £4,100 reduction in the employer NI threshold.
  • 3.6% food inflation as of July 2025, with forecasts indication a rise to 5.1% by September.
  • All the above resulting in 11.5% increase in operational costs over the last six months.

Despite these challenges, Miquill has worked diligently to minimise the impact on customers and remains committed to offering balanced, value-for-money meals to all students at Alcester Academy.

An overview of some of the key affected lines can be found here in their August 2025 newsletter.  A full list of tariffs will be available shortly.

The Academy Canteen

We operate a cashless system for purchasing your food, using a fingerprint recognition system at the till. Depositing money into a validating machine tops up your credit. Alcester Academy is subscribed to School Gateway, an online payment system linked to your School Gateway account. The system enables parents/carers to top up dinner money online by credit or debit card. Students can also bring in money (coins) and put them in the top up machine in the canteen. The canteen is open during morning break and at lunchtime.
