Tutor Time
Tutor Time
Alcester Academy has horizontal tutor groups and students will spend this time each morning, at the start of the day with their peers from the same year group and their tutor.
Tutor time begins at 8.45am and last until 9.10am.
The aim of this time is to allow the tutee to get prepared for the day ahead with the support of a named, consistent adult who can help to answer any queries, and relay key messages. There is an allocated programme each week in tutor time which can include some of the following areas:
- Daily Notices for students regarding school life: clubs, opportunities, activities on that week etc
- Equipment check
- Discussions about rewards, sanctions, attendance on a one-to-one basis
- Uniform checks
- Surveys: either around homework, school trips, Super Learning Days as just a few examples
- Assembly: either online or live with a dedicated theme of the week
- And then dedicated work around Literacy, Numeracy, and the Alcester Academy Prism. To find out more about the PRISM please click here: PRISM
In year 11, students are allocated a tutor based upon their intervention needs. As examples, this could be for maths, English, science and MFL. This subject work is combined each week with the pastoral support available to all other year groups.
An example of a typical week for students is here: Tutor Time Schedule
Your child’s tutor is the first point of contact for you at school for any queries or advice.
